Data Synchronization System

Extend the functionality of normal business applications.

EMAS Data Synchronisation is an add-on application that enhances the functionality of the EMAS range of software solutions. It is designed to extend the functionality of normal business applications by leveraging on Internet-based technology to deliver additional productivity to its users.

EMAS Data Synchronisation allows the transfer of data from one-location to another to ensure that information is up-to-date across different locations. This allows accounting data or transactions entered in a branch to be seen in the company headquarters and vice versa. In short, the same set of information is seen in EMAS applications at different locations.

Data transfer is capable using a broadband or dial-up Internet connection. It is done so automatically without user intervention; meaning that the user will not have to manually initiate data transfer. User’s merely use the EMAS applications as normal while data synchronisation occurs in the background.

User-defined time intervals
The transfer of information can be scheduled at different time intervals as defined by the user.

Broadband & dialup compatibility
EMAS Data Synchronisation is best used with an Internet broadband connection (no fixed IP or leased lines are necessary). It is also compatible with a dialup connection. However, data transfer speeds will be slower using a dialup connection.

Automated transfer
Data is transferred in the background even while users are working on EMAS. No user intervention is necessary as users do not have to manually export and import data from EMAS.

Ease of use
No user training is required as the synchronisation work is done in the background automatically. Users do not have to change their work routine nor learn new steps to use this application.

Efficient data transfer
Only changes that are made to EMAS are transferred from one location to another. This means that only new or changed records are transferred instead of the whole database. This ensures that the size of the files that are transferred is minimised.

High level of security
The transferred data is compressed and is sent securely; thus ensuring optimal data security for the user. Only new or changed records and not the whole database is sent, thus further ensuring the security of data transferred.

Increased productivity & convenience - Currently, to ensure information is made available to users of EMAS in different locations, users have to manually export data from EMAS, transfer it to another location (normally by email) and import it into the system. This is time consuming and disrupts the work of other users in the network as they will have to stop making changes while an export or import is in place. Using EMAS Data Synchronisation, the data transfer takes place in the background without disrupting the users of the system. It is also done in time intervals that can be defined by the user; thus automating the process and ensuring that data transfer takes place.

Increased accuracy of data - By regularly synchronising data across different locations, up-to-date information is made available; hence helping users make better decisions. The latest transactions along with the latest stock figures can be viewed by the main headquarters and its various branches.
Are there any threats of viruses being spread using this system?
Viruses are normally transmitted by files that are infected and are normally passed from unreliable sources. Since EMAS Data Synchronisation only involves the passing of data from known and reliable sources from a user’s office to another location; the threat is greatly reduced. Furthermore, EMAS Data Synchronisation passes only data using Internet technology and not physical files. This again reduces the threat of viruses to a very minimal level. By following normal security precautions such as the installation of antivirus tools and firewalls, the threat of viruses are virtually eliminated.
